I am a certified professional dog trainer and was pleased to learn that Jill had been implementing everything I had learned about early puppy neurological stimulation and that she was exposing the puppies to appropriate mild stressors that the modern literature (scientific and otherwise) has supported in the development of maximized canine cognition and creating what many of us in the field would call a “bomb proof dog”. My puppy Maui, progeny of Summit of Rundle Mountain Retrievers, sleeps through thunderstorms, isn’t phased by dogs barking or other loud noises, is extremely affectionate and is incredibly smart (sometimes too smart of his own good!!). He is currently being used in scent work, which he was excelling at when he was only 9 weeks of age, and the hope is to utilize Maui in search and rescue/recovery or medical scent detection.
